HISTORY The program was started in March 19, 1981 due to increasing incidences of
family violence on Guam. STATISTICS For Fiscal Year 2004, 69 adults and 217 children were served.

ALEE is a nautical term for shelter from the storm.
Alee protects women and their children from the “storm” of family violence/abuse. The program provides 24-hour Crisis
Intervention and Emergency/Protective care for victims of Family Violence. Alee I, a home for abused spouse,
was established to help victims of domestic violence. Women and their children are admitted to
the shelter for a short term to be in a safe and comfortable environment;
guidance and counseling are part of the future planning for the spouse and
family placement. When in crisis from family violence, call for
